While we openly invite participants aged 21 or older, it's essential to underscore that Breathwork, despite its numerous advantages, might not be suitable for everyone. Breathwork can elicit intense physical and emotional responses, so an open mind and earnest engagement in the experience are crucial. If you have health conditions or are on medication that could be exacerbated with intense breathing exercises, a consultation with your doctor prior to participation is advisable. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have glaucoma, heart issues, severe mental illness, advanced osteoporosis, or have recently undergone major surgery are encouraged to abstain from this retreat. For those with asthma, remember to bring your inhaler along. For personalized guidance and further information, please let us know and we will put you in touch with Susan Oubari, who will gladly address your inquiries and provide additional insights.

About Breathwork

Breathwork is a powerful technique for exploration, discovery, healing, and personal growth.

Broadly speaking, Breathwork refers to any breathing exercise where conscious control of the breath aims to improve mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

There are various forms of Breathwork in practice today, each presenting its own unique approach, blending age-old wisdom with modern understanding. The Breathe in Paris® method of Breathwork is called Two-Stage Pranayama, drawing influence from the consciousness-expanding era of the 1960s and 1970s. Originally conceived by psychiatrists in California to simulate the effects of LSD, this technique uses conscious connected mouth breathing in tandem with music to tap into non-ordinary states of consciousness, helping release deeply held emotions.

Engaging in deep mouth breathing during Breathwork leads to a shift in the gas composition of the blood, increasing oxygen levels while reducing carbon dioxide. This controlled hyperventilation can elicit unusual physical sensations such as tingling, cramping, shivering, and muscle spasms. Alongside these physiological changes, it is common for people to experience emotional releases through crying, hysterical laughter, or shouting, providing an outlet for suppressed thoughts and emotions. These experiences contribute to the transformative nature of the practice, releasing and healing past traumas while equipping individuals with resilience and tools to navigate daily life with greater ease and confidence. Many participants emerge from Breathwork sessions with a profound sense of well-being, inner calm, self-assurance, and heightened clarity.

While a single session can sometimes be enough to create a significant change, a regular Breathwork practice can have huge benefits. Testimonials from participants attest to the profound impact of Breathwork. Each session is a unique and experiential journey, with individuals experiencing it in their own personal way. When combined with Reiki, meditation, and coaching, the transformative power of Breathwork amplifies even further.

During the Breathe in Paris® retreat at Château de La Messardière, Susan will guide you through themed Breathwork sessions focused on setting intentions, letting go, boosting confidence, and manifesting desires. The retreat will conclude with a special Full Moon ritual, adding a meaningful end to this transformative experience.
