A Royal Dinner with Mellerio

As we celebrate 255 years since the grand marriage of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, embark on a journey through time with Mellerio, the French court’s favourite jeweller.

From the 16th May, 1770…

A plan twelve years in the making, the alliance between two great royal houses was finally sealed on the 16th May, 1770: King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were married at Versailles. A decade later, having caught the attention of the young Queen herself, one jeweller was destined to outshine all others at court, its clientele a glittering who’s who of European aristocracy. That jeweller was Mellerio.

To the 16th May, 2025

A Royal Dinner

In celebration of this historic event, Le Grand Contrôle welcomes Mellerio – and its fascinating tales of royal commissions and exquisite creations – back to its royal roots in Versailles. In the comfort of our Salon d’Audience, meet Diane-Sophie Lanselle, one of Mellerio’s royal curators for an adventure into the past. Then, take your seat for a candlelit feast, featuring a menu inspired by the dishes believed to have been served at the royal wedding and reimagined by Chef Alain Ducasse.

History is never far away at Le Grand Contrôle, but on 16th May, past and present will meet in our halls.
