Clover Gordes, Jean-Francois Pièges Provencal restaurant

After Clover Green, which specialises in vegetarian cuisine, and Clover Grill, which puts cooking over flame at the forefront, Chef Jean-Francois Piège has combined his two passions in Clover Gordes, tucked away at La Bastide.

Overlooking lavender fields and olive groves, Clover Gordes’ superb terrace offers an exceptional panoramic view over the Luberon valley. In the shade of the pergola, cooled by a light breeze, enjoy a pleasurable lunch or dinner with a view of Provence.

A symbolic location for an iconic chef

It wasn’t simply by chance that Jean-Francois Piège decided to lend his name to La Bastide: the multi-Michelin starred chef spent his childhood in Provence. With Clover Gordes, he has turned a new page of his culinary history. The quintessence of his cuisine, Clover Gordes brings together the things this iconic Chef is best known for: his work with vegetables and the art of cooking on the grill.

When designing the restaurant’s menu, Jean-Francois Piège was inspired by the richness of Provencal ingredients, carefully selecting exceptional local produce:  Mediterranean seabass, Sisteron lamb, goats cheese, Provencal honey and Montélimar nougat made by the Escobar family – these are just a few highlights of the Clover Gordes menu.

Exceptional local produce

Start with some hors-d’oeuvres, designed with a Provencal buffet in mind, which you’ll share while sipping a signature cocktail or a glass of wine, as you look out over the valley. The little vintage plates with traditional patterns are passed around, as you drink a toast to the sweetness of Provencal life.

The magic continues with the Chef’s signature dishes, truly delicious and made with exceptional products, from wild squid carbonara to stuffed courgette flowers or free-range chicken escalope, pizza-style.

As the sun sets in the valley, finish on a sweet note, an ode to Provencal flavours, such as a pot of orange flower ice cream, oven-baked figs and a drizzle of oil.

A place with magnetic beauty

Comfortably settled, enjoy a timeless moment with your loved ones. The air is filled with Provencal scents exhaled by the climbing aromatic plants, the cicadas are singing as the Provencal countryside reveals all its splendour, and at the table, the dishes keep coming, a treat both for the eyes and the tastebuds.

When setting up his restaurant at La Bastide, Jean-Francois Piège wanted to pay homage to the refinement of the place, as well as the rich history of the region. He has more than achieved his aim, with carefully chosen furniture and crockery, as well as with the culinary offerings, both elaborate and suitable for all tastes. An exceptional restaurant in a superb location, where every meal is an ode to the beauty of Provence.
