Brunch at Château de Versailles designed by Alain Ducasse
Invented by American gourmets, brunch is now an institution. A combination of breakfast and lunch, it starts around 11:30am, and lasts until early afternoon. At Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle’s brunch, designed by Alain Ducasse, is akin to a banquet.
A royal brunch
French gastronomy made a name for itself at the time of the Kings when it was an important part of life for the Court. Every week, the royal couple would invite their family and friends to dine. Together, they would enjoy delicious dishes, brought to the table as several courses and known as the "Great Meal" throughout the Court.
At Le Grand Contrôle, we’ve revived the tradition of these royal meals, with a feast-like brunch at Versailles. Served every Sunday, designed by Alain Ducasse, the hotel restaurant’s multi-Michelin starred chef, it is a fabulous occasion to share with family or friends.
Brunch at Versailles in an historic location
Settle yourself in the Grand Cabinet, where the sun’s rays reflect beautifully on the walls. Or take a table in the Arrière Cabinet, with its carefully-restored cream walls. You’ll have a view of L’Orangerie designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart between 1684 and 1686 through the gilt-framed windows or from the terrace.
You’ll be amazed at the attention to detail: the silver edging on the porcelain plates, themselves outdone by the exceptional glassware. Little antiques are placed on the embroidered white tablecloths as a delightful nod to the table art of the period.
The Brunch, a gourmet experience
Enjoy a timeless moment in the heart of Airelles Château de Versailles. The different dishes are carefully served one after another, as part of this incredible feast of yesteryear.
Start with a hot drink of your choice, such as Alain Ducasse’s hot chocolate. In between courses, enjoy a refreshing cold seasonal fruit juice. A selection of bread and brioche will be brought to you with delicious dips.
Choose your signature main course from three tempting options. Then you’ll be offered a meat or fish based speciality according to the chef’s whim.
Before dessert, try some carefully selected cheeses. The delicious pastries are served at your table, including the iconic ‘1724’ chocolate dessert and praline biscuit. To round off your brunch at Versailles, dip your teaspoon into a cup of fresh fruit, lightly sprinkled with herbs from the garden.
