Missions

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Planning and Organising

  • Plan manpower requirements to achieve an efficient usage of labour, considering business needs and seasonal trends.
  • Prepare yearly budgets for housekeeping & laundry.
  • Remain fully accountable for revenue objectives.
  • Makes recommendations to the General Manager or designate regarding the upkeep of furnishings, facilities, and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good repair.
  • Work with executive team colleagues across the hotel to ensure all guest requirements are met.

 Operations

  • Oversee and manage the entire housekeeping and laundry function of the hotel.  Set and review standards and ensures that, through effective training, they are communicated to all housekeeping staff.
  • Ensure that all public, guest-facing and back of house areas of the hotel are properly cleaned at all times.
  • Ensure health & safety requirements are adhered to.

Departmental Leadership

  • Ensure that housekeeping professionals are fully aware of hotel strategy, and that their work is aligned with these requirements
  • Liaise with HR over all employee matters including recruitment and interviewing.
  • Coach and guide new members of the team, putting in place proper orientation training and ongoing training and development for team members.          
  • Control payroll and business expenses of the department.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with suppliers.
  • Ensure records are maintained for linen inventory, uniforms, and other items as applicable.
  • Ensure that lost and found articles are stored properly and that the correct logs are maintained.
  • Co-ordinate work of external contract cleaners if required.
  • Ensure that par levels of linen, towelling and uniforms are current, a summary report should be sent to the GM or designate.
  • Develop and maintain a motivational working environment within the department and positive relations with other departments.
  • Train staff to become multi skilled in all facets of housekeeping.
  • Initiate measures to minimize all wastage of materials and amenities are used in the department.
Desirable Qualifications
  • The Executive housekeeper must speak fluent English, and the language of the local country.
  • He / She must have not less than five years’ operating experience in a luxury hotel housekeeping department.
