Airelles - Val-d'Isère

La Grande Ourse, a typical Savoyard restaurant

La Grande Ourse is just a few steps away from the hotel Airelles Val d’Isère. On the menu: Savoyard cuisine to enjoy in a winter haven

Dishes made for sharing

At La Grande Ourse, the Chef has reimagined Savoyard cuisine with a modern twist. Airelles Val d’Isère welcomes you to rediscover the region’s traditional dishes in a setting paying tribute to their heritage. Everything is made from local ingredients such as crozets, prepared like a creamy risotto, rustic bread, cut into parmesan croutons for soup, or reblochon made just a few kilometres away.

But what makes this place really magical? It is the typical mountain cuisine made for sharing. Choose from Savoyard fondue ‘the way you like it’, or raclette ‘as you’ve never seen it before’. For something different, you will also find fish and exceptional meats, like Black Angus from the renowned Maison Metzer. To round off your meal on a sweet note, the dessert menu is also based around regional Savoyard dishes. A true  journey for your tastebuds, which will constantly surprise you with its flavours and textures. Make no mistake: at La Grande Ourse, generosity is the order of the day and you will find it at every stage of the meal.

Carefully chosen produce

For several generations, the teams in the Savoyard restaurant La Grande Ourse, have chosen the best ingredients of the region to create traditional yet surprising dishes. The Chef works with the best local artisans: the meat and fish come from La Ferme de l’Adroit, the bread is made on-site each day by Patrick Chevallot, Meilleur Ouvrier de France 1994. Don’t forget to have a look at the wine list, which gives carefully selected fine wines pride of place.

Warm decor

This historic chalet, nestled at the foot of the slopes in Val d’Isère, is a jewel of history. Its immaculate white façade is almost hidden by the snow. Inside, ancient pictures and cosy banquettes surround imposing tables.

The best spot? In front of the old fireplace. The wooden walls make the restaurant feel even more homely, the ideal place to come with friends or family. You can also admire the panoramic view from the wooden benches on the terrace at La Grande Ourse Val d’Isere, feet in the snow.
