Airelles - Estoublon

A Living Estate

Famously immortalised in the paintings of Van Gogh, the Alpilles mountains provide the stunning backdrop to the Estoublon estate, a sweeping plain of fertile vineyards and orchards surrounding the immaculate gardens of the château.

The Château gardens

Guests of the Château enjoy access to its private gardens, a lovingly curated haven of nature that mirrors the architectural precision of the manor itself. The gardens’ tranquil pathways are lined with native cypress trees and shrubberies, with the scent of its lavender and rose gardens drifting along the breeze.

The gardens are also home to a number of outdoor amenities, including an elegant private swimming pool pool and grass tennis courts, as well as a traditional Provençal boulodrome – where guests can while away hazy afternoons with games of pétanque, as the children explore or play hide-and-seek among the greenery…

Home-grown delicacies

Historically the estate has always been farmland, and today its rich and fertile soils are home to a lush 2,500 m2 organic vegetable garden. Here, Estoublon’s gardeners grow a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs, aromatics and flowers, in a space where guests can stroll and bask in the changing delights each season brings.

The vegetable garden also serves as a trove of inspiration for chef Emmanuel de Oliveira. The produce grown here, along with the fruits of the vineyards and olive groves beyond, ensure sustainably-sourced ingredients for La Table d’Estoublon, where guests can enjoy elegant and inventive Mediterranean cuisine accompanied by a wide selection of fine wines.

Vineyards & olive groves

Estoublon’s history is inextricably intertwined with two of the region’s most important crops: the fruits of the vine and of the olive tree. The estate’s sweeping plains are home to lovingly-tended vineyards, where ten unique grape varieties are grown using organic and sustainable methods.

Carefully restored following a devastating frost in 1952, Estoublon’s vast olive groves now produce some of the finest oils in Provence, owing to the care and expertise of the estate’s oléiculteurs. With its first mills having been built in 1731, the estate’s long history of olive oil production remains in safe hands today.

A treasured legacy

Today, Estoublon is committed to a sustainable approach, using natural grassing and eco-grazing to protect and enrich its soils, and eschewing the use of artificial insecticides. These traditional methods are combined with modern innovation to produce oils and wines of the finest quality, while enabling the estate to exist in harmony with its surrounding landscape.

Guests of the château can enjoy guided visits of the vineyards, gardens and olive groves, accompanied by tastings and gourmet food pairings - for complete immersion in the unique heritage and flavours of Estoublon’s produce.
